Wizz Air to Ground 50 Aircraft This Summer for Mandatory Engine Inspections
Wizz Air has issued a warning that it will ground approximately 50 of its aircraft during the peak summer season. The grounding is necessary to conduct mandatory inspections on Pratt & Whitney Geared Turbofan (GTF) engines. The issue stems from a manufacturing flaw involving a contaminated powdered metal, which requires the engines to be removed for workshop visits. This global problem will result in a 5% reduction in the airline's capacity. Wizz Air has stated it expects to receive compensation from the engine manufacturer for the significant disruption.
