Wizz Air Profits Soar as Record Passenger Numbers Offset Engine Issues
Wizz Air has announced a significant financial turnaround, posting a pre-tax profit of €371.5 million for the year ending in March. This marks a strong recovery from a €564.6 million loss in the previous year. The positive results were driven by a record 62 million passengers, representing an increase of more than 20%. These figures were achieved despite significant operational challenges, including the grounding of approximately 45 aircraft due to issues with their Pratt & Whitney engines. The airline has been managing the disruption by extending leases and acquiring aircraft from other sources to maintain its capacity.
