Wizz Air Lowers Profit Forecast as Grounded Jets Impact Operations
Wizz Air has issued a warning that its profits for the upcoming year will be lower than expected due to a significant number of its aircraft being grounded. The issue stems from mandatory inspections required for Pratt & Whitney's Geared Turbofan (GTF) engines, affecting approximately 50 jets in the airline's fleet. This disruption has forced the carrier to reduce its operational capacity and adjust its financial outlook. Despite these challenges, Wizz Air recently returned to profitability and carried a record number of passengers. The airline is actively pursuing financial compensation from Pratt & Whitney to mitigate the impact of the engine-related groundings.
