Wizz Air Issues Profit Warning as Engine Inspections Ground Aircraft
Wizz Air has issued a profit warning due to mandatory inspections of its Pratt & Whitney engines. The carrier is grounding a significant portion of its Airbus A320neo family fleet, leading to a capacity reduction of around 10% in the second half of the year. These accelerated inspections were prompted by the manufacturer, RTX, discovering a rare condition in powdered metal used for certain engine components. As a direct result, Wizz Air has lowered its full-year net profit forecast to a range of €350m to €400m.
