Wizz Air Forecasts Profit Surge Despite Ongoing Engine Issues
Wizz Air anticipates its annual profits will nearly triple in the current financial year, forecasting a net income between €500m and €600m. This projection follows a successful year where the airline reported a net profit of €365.9m after carrying a record 62 million passengers. The optimistic financial outlook comes despite significant operational challenges, including the grounding of approximately 20% of its fleet. Around 50 of the carrier's Airbus jets are currently out of service due to mandatory inspections of their Pratt & Whitney engines. Wizz Air has mitigated the impact by extending leases on older aircraft and acquiring new planes to maintain its capacity.
