Wizz Air Extends Suspension of Moldova Flights Indefinitely Citing Security Concerns
Wizz Air has announced it is indefinitely extending the suspension of all flights to Chisinau, Moldova. The airline initially halted the route in March 2023, citing security risks in the country's airspace due to the war in neighboring Ukraine. The company stated there is a "continued but not imminent" high risk, prompting the decision to cancel flights beyond the summer schedule. In contrast, Moldova's Civil Aviation Authority maintains that its airspace is safe and secure for flight operations. Other carriers, such as Tarom and Turkish Airlines, continue to operate services to the Moldovan capital. Wizz Air is offering affected passengers full refunds or alternative booking options.
