Wizz Air Extends Flight Cancellations Until March 2025 Amid Ongoing Engine Checks
Wizz Air has confirmed it will continue to cancel some flights until March 2025 due to mandatory engine inspections. The issue stems from a manufacturing flaw in Pratt & Whitney's geared turbofan (GTF) engines, which requires extensive checks. Approximately 50 of the airline's aircraft are currently grounded, leading to the prolonged disruption. The problem affects numerous airlines globally that operate aircraft with these specific engines. Wizz Air has stated it is working to minimize the impact on passengers by reallocating aircraft and offering alternative flights or refunds.
