Williston High School Students Construct Functional Aircraft in Hands-On Aviation Program
Students in Williston's high school aviation program are gaining practical experience by building a real airplane. The project involves the complete assembly of a Van's RV-12iS, a two-seat light-sport aircraft, from a kit. This hands-on initiative aims to provide students with invaluable STEM skills in airframe construction, avionics, and engine installation. The program serves as a direct pipeline to address the aviation industry's shortage of pilots and mechanics. Once completed and certified, the aircraft will be sold to fund the program for the next group of students.
