Widow Sues Defunct Alaska Commuter Airline Over Fatal 2020 Crash
A lawsuit has been filed against the now-defunct Yute Commuter Service by the widow of a man killed in a 2020 plane crash. The Cessna 207 aircraft went down near Tuntutuliak, Alaska, resulting in the deaths of the pilot and all four passengers. The complaint, filed on behalf of passenger Charlie Aguchak, alleges negligence on the part of the airline. The lawsuit claims Yute failed to ensure the pilot was fit to fly, citing an alleged history of substance abuse, and did not properly maintain the aircraft. Yute Commuter Service ceased operations in 2021 following the bankruptcy of its parent company.
