Whistleblowers Allege 'Broken Safety Culture' at Boeing in Senate Testimony
Four whistleblowers testified before a US Senate committee, describing a 'broken safety culture' at Boeing. Boeing engineer Sam Salehpour alleged that sections of the 787 Dreamliner are improperly fastened and could break apart over time, and that he was threatened for raising concerns. Former manager Ed Pierson, who investigated the two 737 Max crashes, called for a criminal investigation into the company for 'criminal negligence'. The witnesses accused the company of prioritizing production speed over safety and retaliating against employees who report issues. Boeing has defended its safety record and stated it is confident in the safety of its aircraft.
