Westbound Transatlantic Air Cargo Capacity Stabilizes After Volatile First Quarter
Westbound transatlantic air cargo capacity settled in April after a highly volatile first quarter. Analysts from Xeneta noted that the market saw significant fluctuations early in the year, partly driven by the Red Sea crisis pushing more sea-air cargo. In April, the dynamic load factor was 61%, remaining stable compared to the previous year. However, average spot rates for general cargo fell by 29% year-on-year. This stabilization suggests the market is returning to more predictable seasonal patterns after a turbulent start to 2024.
