West Virginia College Launches Aviation Workshop to Inspire Next Generation of Pilots and Mechanics
Fairmont Catholic School students were the first to participate in a new Aviation Career Exploration Workshop in West Virginia. The program is a collaboration between Pierpont Community & Technical College and the Robert C. Byrd National Aerospace Education Center. It was created to address the nationwide shortage of pilots and mechanics by introducing middle schoolers to potential careers in aviation. During the workshop, students engaged in hands-on activities, including flight simulators, riveting sheet metal, and examining aircraft engines. This initiative provides an early, practical introduction to the aviation industry for young students.
