Virgin Atlantic Partners with Vertical Aerospace to Launch UK Electric Air Taxi Network
Virgin Atlantic has announced a partnership with Vertical Aerospace to explore launching a UK-based electric air taxi network. The airline has secured options for up to 150 of Vertical's VA-X4 electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft. This zero-emissions aircraft is designed to carry four passengers and a pilot at speeds exceeding 200 mph. The proposed network aims to provide short-haul connections between UK cities and to major airport hubs like London Heathrow. This collaboration represents a significant investment by a major airline in the future of sustainable urban air mobility, with aircraft certification targeted for 2024.
