Vietnam Approves Major Container Terminal Expansion for Mekong Delta Ports
Vietnam's government has approved a master plan to significantly expand the seaport system in the Mekong Delta through 2030. The primary goal is to boost container handling capacity to between 6.5 and 8.5 million tonnes annually to support the region's growing exports. This development plan involves upgrading existing port infrastructure and constructing new deepwater terminals. The expansion is a strategic move to enhance logistical efficiency and accommodate larger vessels, strengthening the delta's role in global supply chains.
