Vertical Aerospace Delays VX4 eVTOL Certification Target to 2029

Vertical Aerospace has announced a significant delay in the certification timeline for its VX4 electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The new target for type certification has been pushed to the end of 2029. This revision is primarily due to the company's battery supplier, Molicel, indicating that its high-power Valo cell system will not be ready in time for the previous schedule. In response, Vertical is now actively exploring alternative battery suppliers to de-risk its program. The company is proceeding with the build of its second-generation, full-scale VX4 prototype for the flight test campaign.
