Utah DOT to Lead Federal Pilot Program for Electric Aircraft and Advanced Air Mobility
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has been selected to lead a federal pilot program focused on emerging aviation technology. As part of the FAA's BEYOND program, this initiative will test and integrate electric aircraft and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) solutions into the national airspace. Utah is one of eight states chosen to help develop the necessary infrastructure and regulatory frameworks for these new types of aircraft. The program's goal is to advance the use of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicles for services such as air taxis and package delivery. UDOT will work with industry partners to ensure the safe and efficient operation of these technologies.
