US Transportation Secretary Launches Federal eVTOL Pilot Program in Texas

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy has officially launched a federal pilot program for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft in Dallas, Texas. The program, named TxAAPS, is designed to create a safe and effective regulatory framework for integrating this new form of air mobility into the national airspace. This major initiative is a collaboration between the FAA, NASA, and leading eVTOL manufacturers, including Joby Aviation and Archer Aviation. Centered in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, the multi-year program will collect critical data on air traffic management, vehicle performance, and public acceptance. The project aims to accelerate the deployment of eVTOLs for both cargo and passenger services within the next decade.
