US-Based Connect Airlines Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

US-based startup carrier Connect Airlines has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Operated by Waltzing Matilda Aviation, the airline planned to connect Toronto's Billy Bishop Airport with cities in the U.S. Northeast and Midwest. According to its CEO, the collapse was caused by significant delays in obtaining its Air Operator Certificate from the FAA. These regulatory hurdles ultimately prevented the airline from securing the capital needed to launch services. Connect Airlines intended to operate a fleet of De Havilland Dash 8-400 turboprop aircraft.
