US Air Force's Next-Generation Stealth Fighter Program Ahead of Schedule, First Delivery Set for 2027

The United States Air Force reports that its highly secretive Next-Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) program is progressing ahead of schedule. The initiative, designed to develop America's sixth-generation air superiority platform, now anticipates its first aircraft delivery by 2027, three years earlier than the original 2030 target. Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall confirmed that at least two new stealth aircraft are in development as part of this effort. The NGAD is a "family of systems" that will include a manned fighter and numerous unmanned Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCAs). The program aims to produce around 200 manned NGAD fighters and at least 1,000 CCA drones to replace the aging F-22 Raptor fleet.
