US Air Force Special Operations Command Seeks New Long-Range, One-Way Attack Drones
U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) has issued a formal request for information to the defense industry for new one-way attack (OWA) unmanned aircraft systems. These drones, often called loitering munitions, are sought to provide standoff precision strike capabilities for special forces. The requirements specify that the systems must be deployable from aircraft like the MC-130J Commando II. Key performance parameters include a range of at least 500 nautical miles and an endurance of over four hours. AFSOC is looking for a system with a modular payload and a human-in-the-loop control feature, allowing for retargeting or aborting missions.
