United's New Airbus A321XLR Doubles Premium Seats Compared to Retiring Boeing 757

United Airlines is set to replace its aging Boeing 757-200 fleet with the new Airbus A321XLR, featuring a significantly more premium-heavy cabin configuration. An internal memo reveals the A321XLR will be equipped with 28 premium seats, effectively doubling the 14 available on the 757s it replaces. This new layout includes 12 lie-flat Polaris business class seats and 16 Premium Plus recliners. The overall capacity will be reduced from the 757's 176 seats to just 150 on the A321XLR. This change underscores United's strategic shift towards maximizing revenue from high-yield passengers on transatlantic routes.
