United Boeing 767 Loses Tire During Towing, Strikes Vehicle at Newark Airport
A United Airlines Boeing 767-400ER was involved in a ground incident at Newark Liberty International Airport on March 15th. While the aircraft was being towed to a gate for a flight to Lisbon, a main landing gear tire detached. The loose tire subsequently rolled across the tarmac, colliding with a light pole and a bakery truck. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. The flight was delayed as a replacement aircraft was sourced, and the original jet was taken out of service for maintenance.
