United Airlines Receives First Boeing 787 with Increased Maximum Takeoff Weight
Boeing has delivered its first 787 Dreamliner featuring an increased maximum takeoff weight (iMTOW) to its customer, United Airlines. The aircraft, a 787-9 model, includes structural improvements that allow it to carry more weight, thus extending its range or payload capacity. This delivery marks an important technical milestone for the 787 program, which is recovering from a lengthy production pause. The iMTOW variant provides airlines like United with greater operational flexibility for long-haul routes. This specific upgrade allows the 787-9's MTOW to increase from 560,000 to 572,000 pounds.
