United Airlines Partners with Illinois Refinery to Boost Sustainable Aviation Fuel Supply
United Airlines is advancing its sustainability goals through a new partnership with the Phillips 66 refinery in Alton, Illinois. The facility is being converted to produce renewable fuels, including sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). This collaboration is a key part of United's strategy to significantly increase its use of lower-emission fuel. The Alton refinery is projected to have an initial annual production capacity of 800 million gallons of renewable fuels. This initiative supports United's broader commitment to becoming 100% green by the year 2050.
