The incident on flight UA88 was reportedly triggered when one passenger became disruptive after the person in front of them reclined their seat. The flight crew determined the situation was a safety risk and made the decision to land. To meet landing weight requirements, the Boeing 777-200ER had to dump fuel estimated to be worth $30,000. The disruptive passenger was met by law enforcement upon arrival, and the flight was ultimately canceled.
