United Airlines Faces Back-to-Back Bomb Threats on Same Newark-Los Angeles Route
United Airlines experienced two separate bomb threats on consecutive days on its Newark to Los Angeles route. On Tuesday, a flight was diverted to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport after a threatening note was discovered in a lavatory. The following day, a second flight on the same route was evacuated on the tarmac at Newark after a passenger claimed to have a bomb in his bag. In both instances, passengers were safely deplaned and law enforcement conducted thorough searches of the aircraft. No explosive devices were ultimately found in either of the security scares.
