United Airlines CEO Targets 1,000 Daily Flights from Chicago O'Hare Hub
United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby has announced an ambitious goal to operate 1,000 daily flights from the carrier's hub at Chicago O'Hare International Airport. This major expansion is intended to reclaim market dominance from rival American Airlines at one of the world's busiest airports. Currently, United operates about 465 daily flights from O'Hare, down from its pre-pandemic schedule of nearly 600. Kirby stated that achieving this target heavily depends on airport infrastructure improvements. The CEO specifically called out the slow progress on the city's delayed Terminal Area Plan, which is critical for adding the necessary gate capacity for such a significant increase in operations.
