United Airlines 777 Wing Strikes Light Pole During Landing at Newark Airport
A United Airlines Boeing 777-200 struck a light pole while on its final approach to Newark Liberty International Airport. The aircraft, arriving from Beijing as Flight 862, was carrying 212 passengers at the time of the incident. The plane's right wing clipped the pole, which was located on the adjacent New Jersey Turnpike. Despite the collision, the aircraft landed safely and taxied to the gate without further issue. No injuries were reported among the passengers or crew, and the Federal Aviation Administration has launched an investigation.
