UK Civil Aviation Authority Publishes Key Report on Managing Drone and eVTOL Noise
The UK's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has released a significant new report on managing noise from drones and electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. A key finding from the research, conducted with GHD, is that public perception is more influenced by the unique characteristics of a sound, like its pitch, than its overall volume. The study involved over 1,200 participants in a 'sound lab' to gauge reactions to different types of aircraft noise. This data provides a foundation for developing future noise regulations and land-use planning guidance. The report underscores the importance of public acceptance for the successful integration of these new technologies into UK airspace.
