U.S. Navy Plans August Contract Award for F/A-XX Next-Generation Fighter Program
The U.S. Navy is planning to award the contract for its F/A-XX next-generation fighter program this August, according to Admiral Daryl Caudle, commander of U.S. Fleet Forces Command. The F/A-XX is the centerpiece of the Navy's Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) family of systems. This new aircraft is slated to replace the aging F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fleet beginning in the 2030s. The decision represents a critical milestone in shaping the future of carrier-based air power. Major defense contractors are expected to be competing for this highly valuable, multi-decade program.
