Transhipment Surge Causes Severe Congestion at India's JNPA Port Terminal
A key container terminal at India's Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) is experiencing severe operational congestion. The disruption is primarily caused by a sudden and significant surge in transhipment cargo volumes. This increase is largely attributed to shipping lines rerouting vessels away from the Red Sea crisis, diverting more traffic to the Indian port. The situation has led to extensive backlogs, long truck queues, and forced the terminal operator, PSA, to temporarily stop accepting some export containers to clear the yard.
