Textron Aviation Commemorates 50th Anniversary of First Citation Jet Flight
Textron Aviation is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the maiden flight of the first Citation jet prototype, the Citation 500. The historic flight occurred on September 15, 1969, launching what would become the world's most popular family of business jets. The original prototype, known as the Fanjet 500, was developed as an accessible and efficient aircraft for business travel. Today, the Citation lineup includes over 20 models, with more than 7,500 aircraft delivered globally. These jets have collectively flown over 35 million flight hours, cementing the brand's significant legacy in business aviation.
