Texas Launches Public-Private Partnership to Integrate Electric Aircraft into EMS Fleet
The state of Texas has announced a groundbreaking public-private partnership to integrate electric aircraft into its Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The initiative is a collaboration between the Texas Division of Emergency Management, Bell Textron, and operator Bristow Group. A new fleet of Bell's Autonomous Pod Transport (APT) and Nexus 4EX eVTOL aircraft will be deployed to significantly reduce emergency response times. A pilot program is set to launch in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, utilizing the aircraft for both time-sensitive medical supply delivery and patient transport. This marks one of the first major state-sanctioned adoptions of eVTOL technology for emergency response in the United States, with a planned launch in 2026.
