Teesside Launches Feasibility Study into Driverless Autonomous Freight for Air Cargo Logistics
A new feasibility study has been launched in Teesside to explore the potential of driverless, autonomous freight vehicles. The project, led by the Tees Valley Combined Authority, will investigate creating a dedicated route between Teesside International Airport and the Teesworks Freeport. This initiative aims to enhance the region's logistics network by connecting the airport's new cargo facility with key business parks. Backed by £2.5 million in government funding, the study will assess the economic and practical viability of an 'Autonomous Freight Route.' The goal is to position Teesside as a leader in green, innovative transport solutions and attract further investment.
