Taiwan in Talks with Iran to Secure Safe Passage for Evergreen Ships in Gulf Region
Taiwan's government has reportedly initiated direct talks with Iran to ensure the safety of its flag-carrier's container ships. The discussions aim to secure safe passage for Evergreen vessels, which are currently avoiding the Red Sea due to Houthi rebel attacks. As a result, ships are being rerouted around the Cape of Good Hope, causing significant delays and higher costs. The diplomatic effort seeks to prevent Taiwanese-flagged ships from being targeted or seized in the volatile maritime corridor.
