Syntholene Opens Geothermal-Powered Hydrogen Facility for SAF Production in Iceland
Syntholene has officially brought its geothermal-hybrid hydrogen demonstration facility online in Iceland. Located at the ON Power Geothermal Park, the plant utilizes a combination of geothermal and hydroelectric power to produce green hydrogen. This hydrogen is a critical feedstock for creating carbon-neutral e-SAF, a type of sustainable aviation fuel. The project serves as a key proof-of-concept for the technology. It aims to pave the way for commercial-scale production to help decarbonize the aviation industry.
