Sustainable Aviation Fuel Prices Show Signs of Leveling Off, BNEF Reports
According to a new outlook from BloombergNEF, prices for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) are expected to level off in 2024 after a period of decline and volatility. The stabilization is primarily linked to the steadying costs of key feedstocks like used cooking oil and animal fats. This trend could offer more predictability for airlines in their long-term planning for decarbonization. However, BNEF cautions that SAF will maintain a significant price premium over conventional jet fuel. This persistent cost difference remains a critical challenge for the industry's broader adoption of cleaner fuels.
