Sumburgh Airport Runway Repairs Delayed by Wet Weather
Essential runway repairs at Sumburgh Airport in Shetland have been delayed due to persistent wet weather conditions. The £4.7 million resurfacing project, managed by Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd (Hial), was initially scheduled for completion by the end of May. Officials now anticipate the work will be finished by the end of June. The repairs are being conducted overnight to minimize disruption to scheduled flights. This project is part of a broader £58 million investment by the Scottish government across the Hial airport network.
