Stornoway Airport Runway to Shut for Five Weeks for Major Upgrade
Stornoway Airport's main runway is scheduled to close for five weeks for essential upgrades this autumn. The closure, from 27 October to 30 November, will allow for a complete resurfacing of the runway and an upgrade of the airfield lighting systems. Managed by Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd (HIAL), the project will cause significant flight disruptions. Main airline Loganair will suspend services to Inverness, Edinburgh, and Manchester but will operate a limited schedule to Glasgow and Benbecula using a smaller runway. Patient transport and mail flights will continue without interruption.
