Spirit Airlines To Exit Chicago O’Hare, Blames FAA And Competitor Practices
Spirit Airlines has announced it will cease all operations at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) starting June 12. The ultra-low-cost carrier attributed the decision to significant operational constraints imposed by the FAA at the congested airport. Additionally, Spirit accused dominant carriers American Airlines and United Airlines of anti-competitive behavior that prevents smaller airlines from effectively competing. The withdrawal from O'Hare is part of a broader network restructuring by Spirit as it navigates financial challenges and aircraft groundings. Spirit will continue to serve the Chicago area through Midway Airport.
