Spirit Airlines Flight Attendants Object to Google Data Sale Amid Bankruptcy

The union representing Spirit Airlines' flight attendants has filed an objection to the airline's plan to sell customer loyalty data to Google as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA argues that the data set could improperly include the personally identifiable information of its members. The union is concerned that information such as names, addresses, and phone numbers of employees might be bundled with customer data. They have asked the court to deny the sale motion or to ensure that all flight attendant information is explicitly excluded before any sale is approved. Spirit is seeking to sell data from its Free Spirit loyalty program and Spirit Saver$ Club to raise funds.
