Southwest Flight Evacuated in Austin After Fatally Striking Trespasser on Runway
A Southwest Airlines flight arriving at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport struck an unauthorized person on the runway during its landing roll. The individual, who was not a ticketed passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene. Following the incident, the 53 passengers and five crew members were safely evacuated from the Boeing 737. No injuries were reported among those on board the aircraft. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the major security breach and fatal runway incursion.
