South Korea's KF-21 Boramae Fighter Deemed 'Combat-Fit', Paving Way for Production
South Korea's new KF-21 Boramae fighter jet has been provisionally declared 'combat-fit' by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA). This significant milestone follows the successful completion of extensive performance evaluations, including flight and ground tests. Key capabilities verified include flights at supersonic speeds, advanced AESA radar functionality, and successful air-to-air missile separation tests. The combat clearance allows the program to move forward with a mass production contract planned for 2024. The 4.5 generation fighter is intended to replace the country's aging fleet of F-4 and F-5 aircraft.
