South Korea Reveals Plan For First Commercial Urban Air Mobility Vertiport
South Korea's government has unveiled its concept plan for the nation's first commercial vertiport, a critical step towards launching urban air mobility (UAM) services by 2025. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport detailed the project, which will serve as the primary infrastructure for electric air taxis in the Seoul metropolitan area. The initial site is planned for the Ara Waterway, located west of Seoul near Gimpo International Airport. Developed in partnership with Korea Airports Corp., the design is modular and ground-based, allowing for future expansion. This facility will integrate with existing ground transportation to create a seamless travel network. The plan solidifies South Korea's ambition to be a global leader in the emerging AAM sector.
