South Korea Greenlights First Commercial Vertiport for 2025 UAM Launch
South Korea is taking a major step towards launching its Urban Air Mobility (UAM) services by 2025. The country's transport ministry has officially selected a consortium, led by Korea Airports Corp., to construct the nation's first commercial vertiport. The facility will be located at Ara Waterway in Gimpo, west of Seoul, with construction planned to start in the first half of 2025. This project represents a critical move from demonstration programs to establishing permanent infrastructure for commercial air taxi operations. The vertiport will be a key hub for initial routes connecting the capital region, solidifying the country's timeline for advanced air mobility.
