Smoke in Cabin Forces Boston-Bound Delta Flight to Make Emergency Landing
A Delta Air Lines flight from Lisbon to Boston declared an emergency and returned to its origin airport shortly after takeoff. The crew on Delta Flight 127, a Boeing 767, made the decision to turn back after smoke began to fill the passenger cabin. According to passengers, the smoke was accompanied by a smell of burning plastic, seemingly originating from a galley area. The aircraft landed safely back in Lisbon, and all 206 passengers deplaned without any reported injuries. Delta confirmed the diversion was due to a potential maintenance issue and is working to rebook customers.
