SMC Targets Early Runway Delivery for New Manila International Airport
San Miguel Corporation (SMC) reports it is on track for an early delivery of the first runway for the New Manila International Airport (NMIA). The company aims to complete the runway by the end of 2025, ahead of its initial 2026 target. This P735 billion ($12.5 billion) project is designed to alleviate severe congestion at the existing Ninoy Aquino International Airport. The new airport, being built on a 2,500-hectare site in Bulacan, will initially handle 35 million passengers annually. Progress on land development is currently at 60%, with construction set to feature four parallel runways and a modern terminal complex.
