SLI and e-SMART Announce MoU for Electric-Hybrid Aircraft Leasing to Target Regional Cargo
Singapore Leasing International (SLI) and French aviation tech firm e-SMART have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to advance electric aircraft in the cargo sector. Under the agreement, SLI intends to lease an initial fleet of 10 electric-hybrid e-planes, with an option for 40 more. The aircraft is designed to carry 1,200kg of cargo, promising operating costs up to 80% lower than comparable conventional aircraft. This partnership aims to unlock the regional air cargo market, particularly in areas with poor ground infrastructure. The first aircraft are expected to enter service by 2029.
