Skyports Pushes Forward with Vertiport Development Amid AAM Certification Delays
Vertiport developer Skyports is advancing its infrastructure plans despite acknowledging that certification timelines for advanced air mobility (AAM) aircraft are slipping. The company is focusing on securing sites and navigating regulatory approvals to ensure ground infrastructure is ready when eVTOLs are certified for commercial flight. CEO Duncan Walker stated that while aircraft delays are a factor, the long lead times for vertiport development necessitate moving forward now. Skyports is actively developing sites in key markets like Dubai and the UK. The firm is also leveraging its drone delivery operations to gain experience and generate revenue while awaiting the launch of passenger services.
