SkyDrive Explores Converting Osaka Rooftops into eVTOL Vertiports
Japanese eVTOL developer SkyDrive has partnered with Obayashi Corporation to study the feasibility of converting existing emergency rooftop landing sites in Osaka into functional vertiports. This initiative is a key step towards launching commercial air taxi services, particularly for the 2025 World Exposition in Osaka. The study will assess structural requirements, facility layouts, and operational procedures needed for the transformation. A candidate site within Osaka City will be selected to conduct a detailed feasibility analysis. This project aligns with Japan's broader 'Roadmap to the Air Mobility Revolution,' aiming to integrate advanced air mobility into the urban transportation network. The collaboration aims to accelerate the implementation of vertiports and make urban air travel a reality.
